Engaging Young Leaders to Tackle Water Challenges in India

Water Innovation Lab India (WIL India) is a 12-day program that develops future water leaders to think holistically, design innovatively and communicate effectively across cultures.

This unique experience takes participants on a journey from Mumbai to Udaipur, exploring and learning about urban and rural water realities in India.  

WIL India brings together young researchers, innovators, inventors, and entrepreneurs to build new relationships, accelerate knowledge sharing, build transferable leadership skills, and co-develop potential solutions to India’s water challenges.

WIL India offers inter-generational and cross-sectoral learning, inviting collaboration between young leaders, mentors and facilitators.


Young Leaders

40 young leaders – 15 Indians, 15 Canadians, 10 international: water researchers, waterpreneurs, social scientists, community leaders.


Resource Guests

10 visionary resource guests with expertise in water treatment technologies, policy development, & community level water management who will share their knowledge about the water sector across India.


Skilled Facilitators

10 facilitators from Waterlution, Swaraj University and community partners skilled in cross-sectoral collaboration, facilitation and field tours.

Important Dates


Online applications will be accepted from July 11 – Oct 31, 2016


A webinar will be held to connect accepted participants and explore areas of mutual interest in Nov 2016.  Date will be set and shared in October 2016.


Participants will begin the program in Mumbai on the morning of Jan 18, 2017. All accepted participants are expected to attend the entire program.
